Bugdom
Description official descriptions
Bugdom is a third-person action adventure game, originally a Mac title and later ported over to Windows.
The game is set on the insect kingdom of Bugdom, where the bad Fire Ants have overthrown the government and kidnapped all the ladybugs. You play as pill bug Rollie McFly who takes it upon himself to rescue everyone and save the day by riding bigger bugs, jumping around and kicking some Fire Ant booty. The game uses fully 3D accelerated polygonal graphics.

The Good
1. Beautiful Graphics: Sunshine streaming through the grass blades / Water effects. This was state-of-the-art graphics at time of release.
2. Great game play: Rollie can roll up as a ball and zoom around - great fun.
3. Terrific musical score
4. Interesting characters and locations
The Bad
The characters are cutesy cute. Hey, what should I expect: It's a kids game ! :-) There's only about 10 levels and each one varies in length and interest. I wish there more like Level 2 which is epic length and has lots to do!
The Bottom Line
Brian Greenstone's classic follow up to Nanosaur. Like Nanosaur, it has a third person view where you play Rollie McFly, a pill bug, that scampers around nicely in a grass "forest", collecting various power-ups, keys and other items, freeing lady-bugs that have been trapped by the evil fire-ants! Colourful, memorable and unique. A must for every Mac gamer (young or old). For a time Apple released this game with all Apple iMac DVs. It has since been updated for MacOS X and is still (Nov 2006) available from the developers website.

Trivia
Controversy
Publisher Ideas From the Deep contacted the FBI's intellectual crime division, accusing Take-Two Interactive of having sold illegal copies of Bugdom, under the Global Star label, since January 2002. Take 2 had acquired the license in 2000 through the acquisition of Gathering, but failed to keep it when they defaulted on the payment to Pangea. IFD picked up the license in January 2002, but Take 2 continued selling copies.
