The Linear RPG
Description
In this minimalist proof-of-concept, the player controls the left-right motion of a walking stickman across a bent line. Random encounters happen in the background as the player progresses along line segments, with combat automatically resolving and the player's hit point and experience point totals adjusting automatically. Towns are located at corners, restoring players' hit points to their maximum, and players may find themselves backtracking when advancing along stretches too long to complete without facing the possibility of exhausting HP before reaching the next bend and dying (which returns the player to the last junction, erasing their progress.)
As the player moves left and right in this fashion, a humorous text of dialogue and plot details scrolls in the background, down as the player advances and receding back up should the player (named "Kliche" in the text, along with his un-implemented female companion "Tseret Nievol") retreat.
