Challenge!

Challenge! is a strategy game for two players, and is based on the classic board game Agon. The board has five concentric rings of cells and a throne at the center. Each player has a queen and six guards. The game is won by putting the queen on the throne, surrounded by all six guards. The game is however lost if all guards are on the inner ring but the queen is not on the throne.

The pieces are initially placed in a symmetric pattern on the outer ring. The players take turns moving one piece. Each piece can be moved to an adjacent cell on the same ring or on the next ring closer to the throne. The cell moved to must be vacant. Only the queen can be moved to the throne. A piece cannot be moved "into capture".

A piece is captured if it has enemy pieces on two adjacent sides in a straight line. When a piece is captured, the owner must relocate it on his turn, to the outer ring if it´s a guard, anywhere on the board if it's the queen. When several pieces are captured, they must be relocated one by one, first the queen if relevant, then the guards in any order.
