Moraff's Ultra Blast
Description
Moraff's Ultra Blast is one or two player, updated and extended version of Moraff's Blast I for Windows.
As in the earlier DOS game, this is a collection of three different Breakout style games, Traditional, Falling Walls, and Special Effects. In all modes gameplay is, as you'd expect, concerned with bouncing a ball off a paddle on the bottom of the screen and into blocks or bricks suspended above, destroying them.
The object of the game varies according to the type of game being played. In the Traditional game it is to wipe out all the bricks in the shortest possible time while in the Falling Walls game it is to stay alive as long as possible, and in the Special Effects game it is to clear all the blocks that can be destroyed to advance to the next level.
The game design has some novel features such as bricks that allow the ball to travel through them in one direction but not in the other, bricks that spawn other bricks, bricks that move when hit and ball eating bricks.
The game supports 16, 256, 65536 & 16 million colours, has sound effects and keeps the top ten scores for each game. The paddle is mouse controlled and can be moved all over the screen rather than in just the traditional left/right axes.
This game has twenty five levels and is a 'taster game'. When the player registers they receive the full, extended game Moraff's Ultra Blast II has a screen creation tool, 'at least' one hundred levels and one hundred backgrounds.
