Description

Włóczykij is a side-scrolling platform game similar to Dizzy. The main character is reminiscent of an egg. The main way to get around is jumping. The player's task is to collect twelve capsules with the passengers of the crashed spaceship at each stage before time runs out. Moving enemies can be killed by jumping on their heads. Contact with enemies in a different way means instant death and return to the beginning of the stage. The game features five levels.

The Polish gaming industry had to start somewhere...

The Good
It is a scrolling platformer for the Atari 8-bit computers, which is a rare breed.

The most notable feature is the graphics, this is one of the prettiest looking games for the system in the era. The music is nice too.

The Bad
It's one in the slew of those Polish games that emerged after Zeppelin's Draconus and Zybex introduced a new graphics style, that was more up to date to what was going on the C64 at the time. They all look pretty, have nice but unfitting techno music, and playability is below the floor.

It's slow, the design is primitive, and the difficulty is beyond belief! You have about 9 lives but if you touch anything even by little, you teleport back to the beginning of the level!

Most of the graphic assets are stolen from C64 games too.

The Bottom Line
Try to pronounce that name.
