Description

Iron Grip: Marauders is a turn-based strategy game with a steampunk setting. It could be described as a mix between the the two World Wars with a lot of crazy machinery like airships combat diggers. It consists of two main elements: strategy and tactics. The strategy part uses the usual browser game mechanics: the player recruits soldiers, researches technology, upgrades units and manages the resources gold (buying stuff) and iron (for constructing units). Two special resources are deployment (limits the maximal amount of soldiers) and gems (used for special purchases).

The second part are the turn-based battles. Each unit has a certain amount of action points available per round which are used up when moving or shooting. Those battles are entered when starting missions from the strategy part: there are quests (hand-built missions with special goals) which become available when the player level rises and raids (standard missions with random enemy units) which are required to earn resources. Another kind of missions are smuggling (sending a unit convoy on its way which are then unavailable until the mission is over; may result in a battle), assault (basically like smuggling but shorter and without battle), player vs. player battles and co-operational boss battles (a series of missions which are tackled by different players).

The game is free-to-play and supports itself with a item-shop where gems (available to purchase for real money) are used to buy units (which otherwise have to be researched which takes time) or perks (temporary boosts). Playing battles costs energy points, which practically limits the amount of battles the player can enter per day. Those are automatically regained over time, but of course gems can be used to fasten the process.
