Globetrotters
Description
Globetrotters is a game for up to four players played on a single screen. Each player uses a single key or touch. Set in space, the environment consists of different small planets that are orbited by astronauts. To score points they need to collect space crystals by running around the surface (no touch or key required) to make the planet shrink, gradually revealing the space crystals. Once it is small enough it explodes and more crystals are released. By touching the screen or pressing a key the jetpack is activated to move around the screen or to hop to a different planet. The astronauts rotate by themselves, so the player only handles the thrust. The astronauts can hop around to collect crystals. Another way to score is to catch a large crystal that appears sometimes, worth then points. When all planets and crystals are gone, the environment is restarted with a different configuration, but the points are kept until a certain limit is reached. Astronauts cannot hinder each other. The game was originally created for GAMMA IV, a one button game design challenge event that was part of the Game Developer Conference 2010.
