Poor-Man’s Puzzle Bobble

The Good
Not much you can see that is different, but the Zodiac characters have that cute chibi style. There are also some short and repetitive but fast paced tracks that let you know what stage you’re at. Adding to the game’s generous difficulty is a time limit to push players into quick and stylish gameplay. There are new elements from the first Puzzle Bobble game, but nothing that the second game doesn’t already have.

The Bad
The bulk of the graphics are really lacking and it shows. You get the same starry background, it's like looking at an actual framed picture on the screen. And it’s no surprise the game lacks proper presentation and a decent story except for the goal of becoming the sun god. In between stages and situations you’re constantly hearing the annoying chirpy voice of the anime girl, which is like squeaky rubber on a glass pane.

The Bottom Line
This is basically Puzzle Bobble set in Ancient Greece. Not the most original idea that came to arcades but here it is. It doesn’t come close to rivaling Taito’s classic puzzle shooter. In the end this is just a Neo-Geo collectible that falls short of doing anything unique. It’s remarkable that Face got sued for releasing Money Puzzle Exchanger, but Visco didn’t for making this game. Leave it at that, play away and be merry I say.
