Description

The year is 1975, and a nine-year-old city boy named Boku has been sent to his aunt and uncle's house in the countryside for a vacation. He is there for the entire month of August, and it is up to the player what he does each day. Possible activities include fishing, catching bugs, flying a kite, meeting new people, and more. Trying out different activities will open up new events as the days go by.

The later released PSP version has updated graphics and features several new characters.

Trivia

August 32nd

A glitch can be triggered that forces the game to continue to August 32nd, which causes the graphics and audio to become distorted. Because some of the resulting texture distortions can end up being rather disturbing, the glitch has gained a level of notoriety on websites such as 2channel.

Release delay

The game was originally scheduled for a summer 1999 release, but the producers insisted on the inclusion of a fishing minigame. The extra time taken for programming meant the original deadline was missed. Since Sony did not want to release a summer vacation game in the fall, the release was pushed back to summer of 2000.
