Sporting Decathlon

Sporting Decathlon is a sports game that involves competing in all the ten events of a real decathlon competition: 200 metres hurdles, 100 metres, javelin, 400 metres, shot putt, pole vault, high jump, 1500 metres, discus and long jump. The events are played in order and for each one points are earned with medals being awarded at the end. All events are viewed from a side view perspective.

Running is done with two buttons (speed up and slow down) and a third button is used for jumping or throwing. In running events the player has an energy rating which is not allowed to reach zero since the race will then be abandoned. A high pace leads to more energy being burned and therefore it is necessary to not run faster than what's needed to win the race. Throwing events only involve holding down a button to set the strength and then release it at the right time. The jumping events are all about pressing the button at the right time. In each event the player only gets one attempt.
