Shift Zone
Description
Shift Zone is a single-player, mouse controlled puzzle game.
In this game the player is presented with a series of levels, each level consisting of twelve puzzles which must all be solved before the player can progress. All puzzles are of the same type and require a logical approach. Each puzzle consists of a series of touching coloured rectangles, each rectangle has a number, from one to six, associated with it and that determines the colour. Clicking on any shape reduces it’s numbered state, and the state of all touching shapes, by one until eventually it becomes a ‘Shift Zone’.
The object of the game is to change the state of every rectangle into a ‘Shift Zone’ but there’s a catch, ‘Shift Zones’ are unstable and will explode and end the game if changed so:* Once a rectangle has achieves ‘Shift Zone’ status it cannot be clicked on again or the puzzle is over and the player has to start again.
- Clicking on a shape connected to a ‘Shift Zone’ would result in an attempt to reduce the state of the ‘Shift Zone’ by one which would cause it to explode and the player has to start again.
Once a puzzle is solved the player cannot play it again, when all twelve puzzles in a level have been solved the player progresses to the next level. The game has Save/Load functions and a high score table, it is played with the mouse and runs in two windows - the main window which can be moved/dragged around the screen and a small daughter window that shows the colour sequence which cannot.
