SuperHer

SuperHer is a single player, shareware, mouse controlled RPG-like game.

The game starts in a small farming community in Vermont, USA. Your mother has died, dad is sick and your sister, Angela, is missing which leaves you on your own to run the family farm. Looking through your dad’s old things for clues to your sister’s whereabouts you discover that years ago your parents were superheroes, dad used to be SuperHim and your mum was Mistress Thumper. Donning your dad’s power ring you set off to find Angela.

After the optional introduction the player sets the character’s strength, health and agility before assigning extra points on things like heat vision, lightning and body armour. The game starts in the city where you have taken an apartment which is the game’s first location. Each location comes with a series of options many of which are humorous, for example in our apartment one of the options is to make a sandwich so naturally you make a hero sandwich, other options include putting more clothes on – SuperHer is only wearing a bikini, or taking everything off.

Outside the apartment the player is shown a map of the city with key locations on it. Some locations lead directly to confrontation and battle while others provide information on Angela or equipment. All battles are shown on a screen with the player on the left and their opponent on the left. The player uses the mouse to decide what action to take, punch, heat vision, lightning etc and the game implements that choice returning a message something like ‘You Smack your opponent for <2> points’, they then smack you and so it goes until the player either wins, quits or dies. Petty thugs are encountered first and some can be easily vanquished while the major villains are much tougher.
