The Good
Luckily I played the original game first and, while it had flaws, I enjoyed it. When I downloaded this game I thought I was downloading the sequel but thought, well, let's see what an updated game looks like so I gave it a go. The game starts in the same way in James Voodoo's office. There may have been some changes there but I could not really tell, it was when James ventured outside into the station that the new artwork first made an impact. The big train that pulls into the station is brighter, shinier and seems to take longer making its entrance, the whole scene has been subtly changed with new advertising pillars etc.

I didn't complete the game, see below, but from what I did see it looks as though a lot of effort went into the new artwork. The music in the original was very good but I did not get deep enough into the game to experience it in this version. Not sure it was better but it was definitely prettier.

The Bad
Being picky I liked the redesign of the new train but I thought its colour was too bright and shiny - it is a coal burning steam train after all.

The biggest problem was the bug I hit in the first hidden object scene in the station where I was tasked with finding an object called $zoom_main_HD that did not exist.
I'd read reviews of this game on Steam and they are almost universally negative because of this and other similar bugs. What fun is a hidden object game if the hidden object scenes are unsolvable?

The Bottom Line
When I hit the bug I aborted the game and uninstalled it. Later I realised I probably should have hit the SKIP button and tried to go further in the game. However skipping puzzles not only deprives the player of hints it also defeats the point of playing. One of the ad-blurbs I read for this version said that it had been optimised/upgraded to make use of 3D glasses and my guess, based on no hard information at all, is that the object I cannot see would probably shine in 3D.

I played the original game and quite liked the artwork and the sound and the puzzles and, well nearly everything apart from the voice acting really. I recommend that version - leave this one alone.
