The Secret Life of Pets: Unleashed

The Secret Life of Pets: Unleashed is a match-three puzzle game based on the 2016 animated movie The Secret Life of Pets. It features several characters from the movie such as Max, Leonard, Gidget, Chloe and Norman. It is a puzzle game played on a board with swapping mechanics similar to the Bejeweled series. Using swipes two toys can switch positions, either horizontally or vertically. If a straight line of three identical gems or more is recreated, it is a match, points are scored, they disappear from the board, and new toys take their place. A match of four toys creates a Line Clear Super Toy that can be matched to clear an entire line and five toys introduces a Rainbow Ball to match and remove all toys of that type on the board.

A more unusual toy combination is a square to create a parakeet. A parakeet can be matched with two or more toys of the same colour to remove additional toys in a radius. By combining six toys, not in a single line, a Toy Painter is created to introduce a lot of identical toys. Many different special toys can be combined for special effects, clearing boards quickly. There is a linear series of levels where up to three stars can be scored based on the total score to keep progressing. Next to reaching a certain score, sometimes spa items need to be guided to the bottom of the board with a limited amount of moves, a certain number of specific toys need to be matched to make a pet rock out, caged toys that cannot be moved need to be matched to unlock them, pet treats that are removed by creating matches adjacently and so on. A small amount of the boards also scroll down, for instance for the spa items challenge.

Levels are based on different pets and these are unlocked gradually. The game is free-to-play and uses coins as a premium currency to buy power-ups to use during the game, boosters to use before starting the game, get a few more moves, as well as to refill the hearts for the energy/stamina system. A power-up is for instance the Chloe Laser Smash Power Up or the Norman Dash to clear an entire row and column. A booster is for instance starting with a Line Clear toy right away. Between levels there is sometimes a short fetching mini-game.
