Description

Aquascapes is a hidden object / simulation game by Playrix Entertainment. Despite its different title, it is very similar in terms of gameplay to Fishdom 3 and Fishdom: Depths of Time, the only difference being that it's not a match-3 game, but a hidden object game. This, in turn, brings it close to Fishdom H2O: Hidden Odyssey, the only hidden object game in the Fishdom series.

Hidden object levels have five different modes, three of which are also known from "Hidden Odyssey". In ordinary levels (called "Trinkets" in "Hidden Odyssey", with no official name here) the player just has to look for listed items. In "Silhouette" mode the rules are the same, but instead of item names or short descriptions, shapes are given below. In "Flashlight" mode the screen is dark, with only a small circle of light from a flashlight. "Diver" mode is like "Quick Eye" in "Hidden Odyssey": the player has to find 10 objects, each time one of three, but there is very little time for finding each object (around 20 seconds). In "Gold Rush" the player only needs to collect many objects made of gold, but he or she only has 30 seconds to complete this task. Virtual money is won in each level and it can be spent on decorating virtual fish tanks.

All levels except the introductory first one and the Diver and Gold Rush levels (which are too quick to allow extra tasks) also feature a very small "side quest": looking for shells. There are three shells in each ordinary, Silhouette and Flashlight levels and they are used like coins - some fish and decorations can only be bought for shells, not for money.

Similar to the newest parts of the Fishdom series, the game also includes the experience points mechanism (points are won through buying new things, feeding fish and cleaning tanks) and new items are gradually introduced with the game's progress. The final item (a decorative trophy for one of the tanks) is won on level 74, but it's possible to continue playing. The game also features the "Fishipedia" with information on each fish available in the game (including a comparison of its in-game more cartoony appearance and its real photograph), but this time entries too are only unlocked once each fish species becomes available in the game's store with the appropriate experience level reached.

Just like in Fishdom 3 and Depths of Time, aquariums in up to eight different styles can be decorated. This time the settings are: Wild West, a spooky area, dinosaur park, Alice in Wonderland, fairy tales, circus, Robinson Crusoe and fantasy.
