Scene It?: Turner Classic Movies Edition

Scene It?: Turner Classic Movies Edition is one of a series of games in the Scene It? series. This version of the game features questions based on films in the Turner Classic Movies library which includes movies such as Casablanca, 2001 - A Space Odyssey, Doctor Zhivago, The Wizard of Oz and more. The game can be played on a board or in 'Party Play' mode, the game board is not used in 'Party Mode' where the players are shown a series of questions and compete to be the first to shout out the answer.

The game has a 'Pre-set Gameplay' mode, this is because the DVD element of the game randomly selects the questions it asks the players and this may result in some questions being repeated, using this mode removes that possibility.

Scene It?: Turner Classic Movies Edition was sold in two forms, as a boxed game which includes the game board and as an expansion pack for those who already had a game board by virtue of owning one of the other games in the series. The board is called a 'flex-time game board' after it's novel feature, when there's not enough time/interest to play a full game it can be folded thus reducing it's size so that a shorter game can be played.

There are two ways to win the game. The downloadable rules say that the game is completed when a player collects ten trivia cards while the DVD game instructions show that the player must travel round the board to the 'Final Cut' area where they must answer three challenge questions to win.

The game is played with two dice, a six sided die that determines how far the player moves and an eight sided die which determines the challenge the player will face. After the player has rolled both dice and moved their token they may have to complete a challenge, if successful they collect a trivia card and take another turn. Sooner or later the player will land on one of the following squares* The 'My Play' square: this is a DVD challenge in which a scene is viewed and a relevant question is asked. If the player answers successfully they take a trivia card and have another turn.

• The 'All Play' square: This is also a DVD challenge, it is the same as the 'My Play' square but any player can answer. If the current player answers correctly they take another turn, if any other player answers correctly the current player's turn ends and the next player takes their turn.
• The 'Trivia Card Challenge' square: One of the opposing players draws a trivia card and reads the question and the player must answer within the allotted time, the DVD has a timer function which is set at the start of the game. There three different types of challenge, Take Three; Songs and Catchphrases; Pictures and People
• Players Choice/Buzz Card: Buzz cards are only present if the player has a full Scene It game, when playing with just the game pack this square allow the player top choose the kind of trivia challenge they face.
