Description official descriptions

Super Street Fighter IV is an updated re-release of the original Street Fighter IV. Original envisioned as downloadable content (DLC) it was eventually deemed too large in scope and made available as a full game, but at a lower price. It contains everything from the original game along with a large range of enhancements. The new online modes are Team Battle (up to eight players), Replay Channel (to watch and save replays) and Endless Battle (the winner plays against a rotating group op 8 players). An additional Tournament mode was released as DLC. It also contains the barrel and car bonus states that originally appeared in the Final Fight series and Street Fighter II: The World Warrior series.

Owners of the original game can import costume DLC packs and two additional ones are made available for free when a pack is detected. The existing 25 characters all have a new third costume. The ten new characters in this edition are unlocked right away. They are:

  • Adon
  • Cody
  • Dee Jay
  • Dudley
  • Guy
  • Hakan
  • Ibuki
  • Juri
  • Makoto
  • T. Hawk

All characters except for Hakan and Juri already appeared in earlier games. All characters have access to two Ultra Combos.

Trivia

References to the game

In the 7th episode of the anime Mirai Nikki (The Future Diary) two characters are briefly depicted playing a game that is obviously a reference to Super Street Fighter IV. They play as Ryu and Chun-Li look-alikes. The Chun-Li look-alike wears a red attire, instead of the usual blue Chinese dress. No character names are included, however the bottom gauges do read Ultra Combo and EX, specific for this version of Street Fighter IV.

Sales

According to publisher Capcom, Super Street Fighter IV has sold 1.9 million copies worldwide since its initial release, while the 3D Edition has added another 1.3 million copies to the number (as of September 30, 2018).
