Games Based on the Movies

Due to the theme of the movies it may seem natural that most games in this game group are action games. The first movie, however, spawned a Pac Man variant and a strategy game where the player manages the ship crew. The second movie Aliens also inspired a bunch of varied games: a genre mix which includes different mini games like flying or mazes, a first person action game, a side-scrolling action game and even a turn-based strategy game.

The different games based on the third movie however Alien³ (NES, SNES and other systems) are all side-scrolling action games, save for the Game Boy version which is played in a top-down view. Two later released first person shooters are Alien trilogy based on the first three movies and Alien Resurrection based on the eponymous fourth movie.

There are also other games which belong to this group but are not directly based on the movies: Aliens: A Comic Book Adventure is a adventure game based on the comic books, Aliens Online was an online-only multiplayer shooter and Aliens: The Roguelike is an unlicensed roguelike.
