Kylie Ann Minogue O.B.E. is a successful Australian singer, songwriter and actress.
Kylie's career started as a child actress in Australian TV shows in The Sullivans, Skyways, and in The Henderson Kids but her career really took off when she was cast as Charlene Mitchell in Neighbours.
There had been attempts to launch Kylie's singing career early on but her sister Danni was seen as the star. Kylie's 'break' came when she sang at a neighbours benefit concert, after that she was signed by a major record label and her debut single "The Loco-Motion" spent seven weeks at number one in the Australian charts and was the Australian best selling single of the 1980's.
Kylie has received many awards among them the Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and an honorary Doctor of Health Science (D.H.Sc.), she closed the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and is immortalised in a bronze statue on the Melbourne Docklands.
