Melissa Batten (March 2, 1972 â July 29, 2008) was a software engineer at Microsoft since 2002. For the 360 projects, she was especially involved with the titles by Rare. A Harvard-educated lawyer, she had previously been a public defender for the Mecklenburg County (Charlotte, N.C.) Public Defender's Office.
She was murdered by her husband after she got a protection order against him.
