Biography edit · view history
Rob is co-founder of the MMO development studio Mythic Entertainment. A native of Vienna, Virginia, he earned a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Duke University in 1991, after graduating summa cum laude from the same school in 1989 with a degree in engineering and a minor in computer science. After first working for Orbital Sciences Corporation as a communications engineer, Rob co-founded Interesting Systems Inc., which he later merged with Mark Jacobs' company to form Mythic Entertainment. He served as Production Manager, Vice President and COO for Mythic, and was also the lead programmer and technologist for the company. He designed and created both the Raze (a 3-D ray-caster) and ISO-Raze (isometric ray-casting) engine technologies, which were at the heart of some of Mythic's best-known properties, including Aliens Online, Rolemaster: Magestorm and Godzilla Online.
After Mythic was acquired by Electronic Arts, by June 2009 EA eventually merged Mythic and BioWare into a new RPG/MMO group. Along with the announcement, Mythic president Mark Jacobs left EA on 23rd June 2009 and Denton stepped up as General Manager of Mythic, reporting directly to Ray Muzyka of BioWare.
