Description

Metroid Prime: Remastered is a remastered version of the original Metroid Prime first released on the GameCube in 2002. This is the first version of the game for the Nintendo Switch and it remastered with revamped high-definition visuals and modernized audio. The game supports a modern dual-analog control setup as well as a more traditional setup inspired by the release of the game for the GameCube and Metroid Prime Trilogy for Nintendo Wii. There is a new casual difficulty option that reduces the amount of damage Samus takes in combat. Bonus content includes concept and development art for both the original game and the remaster as well as a soundtrack gallery and 3D character gallery.

Supurb update.

The Good
Clearer graphics, better controls and more options make this the outstanding version of Metroid Prime.

The Bad
The control scheme is still cumbersome, partly by nature and partly because of its Gamecube roots. The lack of finesse can really make some boss fights drag on.

The Bottom Line
Fantastic Metroid Prime is back and better all round, but some elements, trudging back and forth and particularly the boss fights overstay their welcome.

Good Bosses and Weapons but can Get Tedious

The Good
The bosses are fun to fight. Each weapon is fun to use and makes the fights more interesting as you have to use the right weapon for the right battles. Visors are fun too.

The Bad
Too much backtracking to get all the items. While the game throws different enemies to break up the tedium, there are just points when you look at the map and realize you will spend 30 minutes to get to an objective. The 3d map is more difficult to navigate than the old sidelong maps.

The Bottom Line
While a classic, and a really well made remastering, the core game has some fun parts such as challenging bosses and intriguing puzzles, the tedious backtracking slows the game play down.
