Description

Abe Lincoln Must Die! is the fourth game in the Sam & Max episodic series. The Commissioner sends the duo to Washington as the president has gone insane. Just like Myra in Situation: Comedy, he seems to have been hypnotized. They soon find out the president has been replaced by a puppet.

In a twisted series of events, involving familiar characters such as Three Soda Poppers who have become governors, Sybil Pandemik who is involved in a love scandal and starts a carbon-dating service, Bosco, Hugh Bliss and Secret Agent Chuckles, Max has to run for office against a giant mecha statue of Abraham Lincoln and use a lot of dirty tricks to win the polls. Through a truth serum, Secretary's day (a new holiday), a war between three different states for the claim to Mount Rushmore, and lots of missiles, the mission becomes clear: the rampaging Abraham Lincoln must die!

The gameplay is identical to the previous games in the series, including an interactive driving scene. The game is entirely in 3D and the player controls Sam. Sam can interact with the environment through mouse-based actions. He can talk to other characters, examine the environment, pick up items and use them with other objects. The inventory is shown as a cardboard box at the bottom of the screen.

Trivia

The headline on one of the newspapers outside Bosco's inconvenience reads: "Purcell attacked by two headed monkey". Steve Purcell is the original creator of Sam & Max and two headed monkey refers to a line in the Monkey Island games. When Guybrush Threepwood wants to escape from a tricky situation, one of the lines you can often use is "Look behind you, a three-headed monkey!"
