Teil 3 brennt ein Feuerwerk von guten Gags ab, die gepaart mit knackigen Rätseln und einer fesselnden und originellen Story ein einzigartiges Spielerlebnis garantieren. Lediglich der Abspann, der nach der opulenten Story etwas sehr kurz geraten ist, kann als kleiner Minuspunkt im Protokoll vermerkt werden. Alles in allem aber ist 'The Curse of Monkey Island' nicht nur ein würdiger Nachfolger für die kultigen ersten beiden Teile. Er ist besser! Wetzt die Säbel und rauf aufs Deck Männer, denn das hier ist ein Höhepunkt des Adventuregenres!

But the Curse of Monkey Island is really the gem of the series. With its dramatically improved graphics and talking characters it took this wonderful series to another level. Replaying this game so many years later, I am struck by how captivating and entertaining I still found it to be. Fortunately, some things never change

It has been a long 6 years since Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge has delighted legions of adventure gamers with its legendary mix of humor and devious puzzles. For many LucasArts fans, The Curse of Monkey Island is therefore a long overdue sequel. Yet, with the departure of creator Ron Gilbert, many fear that this sequel may not live up to the high expectations of the media and the fans. Fear not! The Curse of Monkey Island not only retains all the atmosphere of the Monkey Island series, its superior graphics and gameplay ensure the rivalry between Guybrush and LeChuck to continue on for another chapter!

It's been six years since the last Monkey Island game. Six long years fans have waited. But no one expected this. LucasArts has completely blown away every adventure gamer that thought they had a favorite. This is truly adventure gaming at its finest. If you haven't already tasted this gaming ambrosia, you're in for a treat.

In case you couldn't already tell, I highly recommend this game for anyone. Whether you're looking for a good adventure, or just a good laugh, beautiful animation, or great sound, there's something for everyone in this game. It is an excellent value, and will certainly become a gaming classic. I have yet to find a person who has played this game who hasn't loved it; and I have no doubt that almost all of you will feel the same. It is not common to recommend an adventure game to everyone, but even you real-time strategy die hards and first-person shooter fanatics out there might be pleasantly surprised if you pick this one up.

Do yourself a favor and find this game. It's one of the greatest titles ever produced on this side of the Pacific, and to miss it would be a true loss. In fact, missing any games in the series would be. Go. Go now and buy them all. You can thank me later, especially if you happen to have a fear of porcelain. Not only will the game entertain you, but you'll know that you aren't alone. Guybrush feels your pain.

Pela sua construcção e linearidade, The Curse of Monkey Island não é um jogo que se volte após finalizar, excepto para tentar o modo mais difícil. Mas a qualidade da obra e a satisfação que se retira viagem (experimentem com os mais jovens) deixam, tal como um bom livro, marcas indeléveis, que explicam porque a série atingiu a terceira geração.

Die Monkey-Island-Trilogie gefällt mir vor allem wegen der geschickt verteilten Rätsel. Komme ich an einer Stelle nicht weiter, probiere ich’s halt woanders – irgendwann kommt der zündende Funke bestimmt. Einsteiger werden allerdings daran zu knabbern haben und schon mal die Übersicht verlieren. Oft grübelte ich noch auf dem Heimweg über Lösungsmöglichkeiten nach. Nicht umsonst versammelte sich die halbe Redaktion andächtig vor meinem Monitor, als zum ersten Mal die schmissige Karibik-Musik des Vorspanns erklang…

Essentially, then, The Curse Of Monkey Island offers more of the same. That's no bad thing because there are still mad fools out there who've never laid their eyes on Monkey 2, but of course to us old ape hands, Monkey 3 is no longer startlingly 'new'. It's far more polished than its prequel, yet at the same time familiar and reassuringly tip-top territory. So how was it for me? Always better than the first time and slightly better than the second.

Kukaan tuskin yrittääkään riistää historian kuuluisimman seikkailupelin titteliä LucasArtsin The Secret of Monkey Islandilta. Monkey Islandit ovat edelleen adventurien suunnannäyttäjiä, sillä niiden yksinkertaista reseptiä ovat harvat pelit onnistuneet apinoimaan: miellyttävä sankari johon on helppo samaistua, hyvät mutta loogiset puzzlet, mieleenpainuvat hahmot ja sinne tänne ripoteltu huumori. Näillä eväillä on tehty kaksi peliä, joiden nimien kaiku säväyttää nuorimpaakin mikroilijasukupolvea.

Ze hebben er lang over gedaan, maar het resultaat mag er dan ook zijn. Dit moet je gewoon kopen! Het verveelt geen seconde en bovendien is het veel goedkoper dan een reis naar de Caraïben. Voor die prijs krijg je dan ook nog eens echte (nou ja...) piraten te zien! Wat moet je meer hebben? LucasArts heeft weerom eens bevestigd dat ze heel wat in hun mars hebben. Ik ben dan ook razend benieuwd naar hun volgende adventures.

CoMI mimo faktu, że jest grą z 1997 r., a kosztuje tyle ile najnowsza produkcja, jest warta każdej ceny, bo jest po prostu profesjonalną produkcją (to naprawdę widać). Zdecydowanie lepiej zakupić tę część Małpiej Wyspy niż trójwymiarowe i droższe nie wiadomo co, zwane Escape from Monkey Island. Naprawdę!

In essence, what adds real finesse to Curse of Monkey Island is that no one element screams above the rest for recognition. It possesses that "unity of style" across the board for which everyone strives but so few achieve. Even Ron Gilbert, (heck, especially Ron Gilbert) should be proud. This is an absolute must for all adventure gamers. Other than its being a bit wordy at times, the only other criticism one can level is that it is probably a tad too short. Leaving us wanting more, however, is what will make us clamor for another sequel. We are told, after all, that "the monkeys are watching." So should we.

Well, a message of good tidings for all the would-be pirates out there. You can relax, roll out the barrel and have yourself a grog -- or a lemonade, as the case may be :-) Although it will inevitably have its critics from amongst Monkey Island devotees who are impossible to satisfy, The Curse of Monkey Island is, nevertheless, a very worthy successor to the previous games. And, as a bonus, it is sure to capture a whole new generation of Monkey Island fans.

Amidst the mad shuffle of holiday releases, LucasArts quietly wrapped up work on an adventure game many of us have been waiting five years to play. The Curse of Monkey Island is an animated, graphic adventure based on the characters introduced in The Secret of Monkey Island (1990) and its sequel, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge (1992). Like its predecessors, Curse has all the makings of a classic: great gameplay, fantastic graphics and music, challenging puzzles, a complex plot, and hilarious dialogue.

Ja, ja, ich weiß, früher war alles besser! Ich bin mir sicher, daß es gerade bei Monkey Island 3 wieder viele Stimmen geben wird, die die glorreiche Vergangenheit beschwören und der Meinung sind, The Curse of Monkey Island könne seinen beiden Vorgängern nicht im geringsten das Wasser reichen. Wer jedoch mit derart festen Vorstellungen an Monkey 3 herangeht, verbaut sich selber den unverkrampften Zugang zu einem der witzigsten und technisch perfektesten Adventures der letzten Zeit. Threepwoods dritter Coup ist eben „anders“, und meiner Meinung nach ist es nur zu begrüßen, wenn sich die Designer trotz aller Bezüge zu den beiden Vorgängern nicht mit einem billigen Abklatsch zufriedengaben, sondern Story und Charaktere zeitgemäß weiterentwickelten. "Nachgewachsene" PC-Piraten, die die ersten beiden Monkey Island-Spiele nicht kennen, werden von der dritten Episode sicherlich von Anfang an hellauf begeistert sein.

Es geht auch ohne Ron Gilbert: Derweil der Entdecker von Monkey Island lieber Echtzeitstrategiespiele bastelt, legt LucasArts ein sensationelles Comedy-Adventure hin – Humorbreitseiten am laufenden Band, im Schwierigkeitsgrad fair, technisch einwandfrei, fast immer logisch, frei von überflüssigem Gelaber, sauber übersetzt, klasse synchronisiert und schön umfangreich. Das größte Akzeptanz-Problem seitens der eingeschworenen Monkey Island-Verehrer besteht sicher hinsichtlich des Grafikstils, dem ganz einfach der Charme vergangener 320x200-256-Farben-Pixelpracht-Tage fehlt.

Grog und Gags sind kein bißchen schal geworden: Nach fünfjähriger Pause bläst Monkey Island mit vollen Segeln in mein CD-Laufwerk. Kapitän Lenhardt ist zufrieden: Auch wenn der Elan der beiden Vorgänger nicht ganz erreicht wird, ist Curse of Monkey Island ein hochwertiges Spaß-Adventure vom besten LucasArts-Schlag.

The Curse of Monkey Island er ikke noget nyskabende og grænsebrydende spil. Men det er et uhyre afpudset produkt af meget høj kvalitet, og det er gevaldigt underholdende i den tid, det varer.

Astiquez vos bottes, ressortez votre cache-oeil, et affûtez vos sabres autant que votre répartie : le pirate le plus gaffeur de la galaxie est de retour avec The Curse of Monkey Island. Le point & click le plus déjanté de toute les Caraïbes reprend du service, mais non sans nous épargner une petite appréhension : Sieur Ron Gilbert, l'homme qui a inventé l'île au singe, ne fait pas partie du fier équipage qui a amené Guybrush à bon port au terme de quatre années de développement. On pourrait craindre que le grog n'ait pas la même saveur, voire même que les singes à trois têtes viennent pointer aux espèces en voie d'extinction à la SPA... Rassurez vous, il n'en est rien : si l'appel de la mer ou de l'artisanat capillaire retentit à vos oreilles, prenez la mer !

Many have complained that this game is too short. And it is shorter than its two predecessors (I imagine because of production costs). But as the saying goes, "what's there is cherce." I don't mind a short game as long as it's good. The endgame, which takes place back at the strange amusement park, is a bit odd and irritating. And the ending is a bit abrupt and stingy. It feels like it's missing one final grand cutscene that you're really earned. Still, while you're waiting for Escape from Monkey Island to arrive in your mailbox, you could do much worse than to revisit Guybrush and pals as he attempts to lift The Curse of Monkey Island.

This is a product that lives up to all the pre-release hoopla, and then some. One can purchase it with the knowledge that they will be buying a quality product that will give them hours of entertainment. What more can one ask from a game or a game company?

Posiblemente, The Curse of Monkey Island ha sido la aventura más esperada por todos los seguidores del género que deseaban ponerse en la piel de Guybrush Threepwood, el pirata más famoso de todos los tiempos, por tercera vez. Para ello, tuvimos que esperar el larguísimo periódo de casi seis años. Pero finalmente la espera tuvo una recompensa, que a mi parecer, merece la pena. Yo había visto muchas fotos, y vídeos del juego. Incluso la demo en inglés.

Have you ever wanted to be a pirate? Have you ever felt an overwhelmingdesire to strap on a superfluous eye patch, take up a cutlass, and take tothe seas for a life of pillaging, looting, and an entertaining gutturaldialect? I thought so. Don't try to deny it.

The Curse of Monkey Island is the third instalment of the popular Monkey Island comedy series. The saga follows the adventures of the oddly named Guybrush Threepwood, the wannabe pirate who can hold his breath for ten minutes. The story again relies on the character triangle of Guybrush, Elaine (the governor of three Caribbean islands) and the evil undead pirate LeChuck, Guybrush's arch-enemy. The Curse of Monkey Island begins with Guybrush Threepwood lost at sea. Soon though, he is captured and that is where the game kicks off. After escaping from captivity, he finally proposes to Elaine, his long-term love… with a cursed diamond ring, which turns Elaine into a gold statue. The rest of the game focuses on breaking the curse, and escaping from the pirate LeChuck so that they can marry.
