WarnerActive was established through Warner Music Group's WEA Corp. as a CD-ROM publishing unit.

Working in cooperation with WEA Visual Entertainment sales and distribution organization, WarnerActive served as an umbrella organization, offering consumer technical support, product management and quality-assurance services.

The establishment of WarnerActive was announced in January 1995 with David Archambault appointed as its vice president and general manager.
