Red Barrels is a game development studio based in Montreal, Canada. It was founded in 2011 by Philippe Morin, David Chateauneuf and Hugo Dallaire. They all previously worked at Ubisoft Divertissements (Ubisoft Montreal) and Daillaire also at EA Montreal. The studio was first revealed in July 2012. In the same month Réjean Charpentier joined the company. In September three more members joined: Jonathan Abenhaim, Alexandre Sabourin and Patrick Lalonde, and in October Marc-Antoine Senecal became part of the team.
On 17th October 2012 the studio announced its first game, the survival horror game Outlast.
