Khan studied creative writing and history. She goes by her last name, professionally.

She began her career in games as a QA Tester at Turbine Inc., a Boston-area studio, working on The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Within nine months, she was promoted to Associate Content Designer and worked on the Lothlorien, Forochel, and Mines of Moria content updates.

She worked for a year as a contractor on the short-lived open-world shooter APB, at Realtime Worlds in Dundee, Scotland. After a short break back in the U.S., she joined Gameforge's team in Karlsruhe, Germany, where she worked on the family-friendly PC MMORPG Wizard101.

She then moved to Hamburg to join Bigpoint, where she was a key member of their Narrative Design team for just over four years, working on a number of browser and mobile games. A brief stint in Munich at minor studio preceded a move back to the UK, when she joined Splash Damage as Senior Narrative Designer, where she worked on Gears: Tactics.

In 2020, she moved slightly northwards to join DS Dambuster in Nottingham as Principal Narrative Designer, and was quickly promoted to Lead Narrative Designer on Dead Island 2.
