The Top MobyGames Contributor of 2009 is, for the first time, joyvalley from Germany. It is the first time since 2005 that the Top Year Contributor is not Sciere. Joyvalley is the second German contributor to have won this title (after Xoleras in 2004).

He also established a record for most points scored in one year, with 32,258 points.

2009 also saw several dramatic changes on the Top 50 All-Time Contributors ladder, including the veteran Unicorn Lynx becoming the second All-Time contributor, reaching the 70,000 points mark.

Unfortunately, the year 2009 also saw some regress. 8 Contributors have scored 10,000 points or more during this year - as opposed to 11 in 2008. The Nr. 50 contributor scored "only" 1937 points in 2009, compared to 1952 points in the previous year.

Generally, more changes were made to the site than during the preceding year, but none as important as adding the Browser platform in 2008. The new search engine is one of the most notable additions of 2009. However, it is still in testing stage, with bugs that haven't yet been fixed.

Hopefully the year 2010 will see increase in contributions, and, most importantly, addition of new platforms, that have been "waiting in the queue" for a very long time (such as Sharp X68000 and FM Towns).

Looking forward to another year of contributing to and profiting from MG :D

I have lots of stuff to add but unfortunately I'm professionally lazy, so I always queue the stuff, and I simply continue to overestimate the effort it takes to contribute to MG. I'll try to change that this year. I want to make the top contributor list for 2010 :P

Happy new years everyone

Well, I did say I don't have a problem with blatant forms of self promotion, but maybe I'll make an exception for Oleg. :) :) :)

New platforms like the FM Towns, Acorn Electron and Archimedes and the BBC Micro would be nice.

Special congratulations to joyvalley who seemingly has the same great motivation as approver than as contributor. It is a unique feeling that one's contributions are approved on the same day, sometimes even in the same hour, after I finished it.

After 4 months - that ruined my 50.000pts in a year ambition :( - without Mobygames, it's time to be for 2010 again in the Top 3, and the 2nd year in a row to be Moby's no. 1 contributor, damn' why does no one approves my submissions, hope the next days i will appear on Top of the 2010 list...

I don't think this should be considered "regress." Some of us just can't contribute as much as we'd like to. Others have to pick up the slack, or else the work doesn't get done at all. Except for reviews -- which are opinions, and therefore you need to have some diverse viewpoints -- I don't see how the number of different contributors matters, as long as the work is done by somebody.

Dudes, when Martin Galway says jump, we need to ask how high?!

What's it going to take, John Romero rejoining us here in the forums to lend his voice to the call?

If Martin Galway has to stop by himself to get it added, then so be it. I'll make sure the specs are in the system before the end of the month, based on the wiki. Then Rob only needs to press the magic button.

Still, there is so much stuff clogging the queue, we really need to avoid having it get worse by adding too much. I can't catch up with corrections, let alone looking at regular approvals.
