Description

Hi-Ten Bomberman was an experimental game playable at Hudson Soft Super Caravan events in 1993. It follows the traditional Bomberman mold, with the twist of pitting ten players against each other in large, widescreen playfields. It featured five gameplay modes:

  • Battle Royale: A standard deathmatch mode in which players compete to become the last bomber standing.
  • 2 Group Battle: Two teams of five players compete to eliminate the other team.
  • 3 Group Battle: Three teams of three players compete to eliminate both other teams.
  • 5 Group Battle: Five teams of two players compete to eliminate all other teams.
  • 1 vs 9 Battle: An endurance mode in which one unlucky player has to defeat nine other players.

This game ran on custom hardware and output a true 1035i HD image running on the Japanese Hi-Vision television standard. Although Hi-Ten Bomberman itself was never released commercially, its ten-player feature inspired the 10-player game mode from Saturn Bomberman.
