Harry Potter for Kinect
Description
In Harry Potter for Kinect players are able to reenact select moments from the Harry Potter series of films using the Xbox 360's Kinect motion sensor. Playing as either Harry Potter himself or creating a new student via face scan technology, players are able to enter the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, reliving cherry-picked moments from the eight films and seven school years that made up Harry Potter's experience.
Essentially a collection of mini-games, Harry Potter for Kinect has the player attend magical classes like Potions and Herbology, play the broom flying sport of Quidditch, combat magical creatures like a troll and a flock of Cornish Pixies, and duel other magic users. Every activity is mapped to the movement of the human body, the player flicking their hand like they're wielding a wand, moving their body about to avoid danger, and otherwise making motions appropriate to the scenario at hand. Voice commands are also integrated for calling out spell names to switch to them.
While the main adventure lays out a set of challenges in order, certain activities like potions making and wizard dueling also have additional levels with increased complexity. Levels can also be retried to try and earn higher performance ratings. The game also allows for both competitive and cooperative versions of certain mini-games.
