The Mystery of the Java Star
Description
The Mystery of the Java Star is a puzzle and adventure game for multiple systems.
On a dark, stormy night late in 1767, the Sea Witch, sank in an unknown location in the Atlantic Ocean. It was rumored that she was carrying gold and a mysterious ruby known as the Java Star, which once belonged to an Indian Prince.
One day, you go to a sale in Bristol, and come across an old sea stained box with the name 'Sea Witch' on the lid. Inside, you find an envelope containing information about the voyage, and you have 8000 pounds to finance the expedition.
In Part 1, the player must decipher a message and map by moving pieces around a grid to complete the picture. The player can ask for help, but each hint costs money. There are 3 levels of difficulty.
In Part 2, the player must explore London to gather the voyage of the Sea Witch, the weather at the time, the speed of the ship, a map of the area, the port the ship sailed from, and facts about the Java Star. The player must then hire a helicopter to fly to the crash site. Each place the player visits takes half a day, and the cost of living is 30 pounds/day. The player must explore 36 separate London locations to find this information.
In Part 3, the player must correctly ascertain the location of the shipwreck, by plotting where on a map the ship likely went down from the previously gathered information. The player must then correctly survey the local area to create a map.
Finally, in Part 4, the player explores the actual shipwreck itself, gathering gold and looking for the Java Star before they run out of time.
