One of the best war/military themed games

The Good
This game might seem a little backwards at the time i.e Electronic Arts' Strike series (Desert, Jungle, Urban) had a 3D, isometric view, compared to Red Zone's top-down view. But it's a more fast-paced, somewhat dark and more atmospheric game, helped a lot by Jesper Kyd's excellent music. It's good having the three commandos to choose from for the ground/indoor missions, they have their own character, own weapons etc.

The Bad
The name "Red Zone" and the villain "Ivan Retovitz" are a bit too stereotypical i.e "red scare", "commie invasion" etc and the actor playing Retovitz at the start is a little cheesy, though having a full-motion-video clip is impressive. It's a difficult game, of course you only have one gunship and three commandos and have to restart the mission if you're shot down.

The Bottom Line
One of the best war/military themed games ever. Difficult, but worth persisting with and the music is worth listening to in the sound test.
