The PDF Game

The PDF Game is a mobile shooter about being a freedom fighter in Myanmar; "PDF" is an abbreviation of "People's Defence Forces," real-world groups that are battling the military for control of the country after the coup in February 2021. The player will play through a variety of missions, first training on targets and later progressing to missions where they must kill enemy combatants across different stages both indoors and outdoors.

The game is free-to-play but features ads; proceeds from those ads fund local resistance groups. Because of its real-world basis, the game has encountered problems with both the Apple App Store and Google Play, necessitating name changes on both. Eventually it was removed entirely from Apple's store, but later relaunched under a new name with all the real-world elements removed and replaced by a zombie narrative.
