While the original Advanced Warfighter was a stunning achievement, GRAW2 is a gaming rarity - a sequel that builds on the successes of its predecessor, rather than relying on a slick graphical upgrade to shift copies. And for anyone who prefers the slow burn of Rainbow Six to Gears Of War’s itchy trigger finger, this is essential.

Although the single player campaign is rather short, the multiplayer modes give you an endless replay value. GRAW 2 is stunning to look at, great to listen to and most of all fun to play – especially if you like cooperative multiplayer. The game is well worth the price of admission.

The bottom line is that Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 eclipses the first game in every way, and let's not forget that we are talking about a game that is considered by most to be among the finest tactical shooters ever made. So, again, here I am with the sequel to a game that earned five stars, and yet the sequel is even better than that first, arguably perfect experience. I guess I can only hope that you'll understand how far we've come in the last year (where "next gen" has become "current gen"), and realize that in the new context of great games that are available today Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 towers over its closest competitors. Enough words... if you like tactical shooters, just do yourself a favor and buy the game.

GRAW is still one of the more popular online games on the 360 and for good reason. The added multiplayer in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 should be enough to drive the game’s fans towards a purchase, at least if your only concern is the multiplayer aspect. Anyone looking for a lengthy single-player experience won’t find it here, though the gameplay is good enough that you’ll probably want to play through more than once.

Not bad though when you consider that’s my only real gripe about the game. GRAW 2 is a marked improvement from the first game and deserves to be added to any shooter fan’s collection. Be warned though, it is 3rd person like Gears.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 expands and improves on the original game with more multiplayer options, a refined single player game, and even more impressive visuals. GRAW2 should be a definite game that all Xbox 360 owners need to check out. The question to buy, or rent, should weigh on the time you spend online. Multiplayer fans Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is an easy “Buy”, but single player gamers without Xbox Live should pick GRAW2 up for a weekend first. If you ever had reservations about Xbox Live, GRAW2 could be the game that makes the upgrade from Silver to Gold worth your while. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is a worthy sequel to one of last years best games.

GRAW2, in a nutshell, is an awesome game. It is everything that we have been waiting for from the Ghost Recon series and offers arguably the best multiplayer experience ever on a home console. This is complimented by a short yet incredibly exciting campaign that promises not to bore you as you venture through it. GRAW2 is also the best modern shooter to come out on the Xbox 360 and should be experienced by tactical shooter enthusiasts everywhere.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is a great sequel to an already great game. The little improvements and tweaks make the core experience even more enjoyable than it already was. GRAW 2 has a challenging and captivating (though short) campaign mode, great multiplayer options and it's a stunning technical achievement. The X360's first must-buy title of the year.

If you’re expecting a totally new gaming experience, you should probably never buy a sequel again. Which means 98% of the games being released these days are out of bounds. But if you dug the first game, get ready for an even bigger, better and badder experience. GRAW2 is yet another bullet to the chest of competing shooters, proving that the Clancy stable are the ones to beat in this genre.

Some may complain that GRAW 2 is too similar to the original, however it was an award winning formula Ubisoft would have been foolish to mess with. Instead, they have tightened everything up from the first game and produced what may be the best 360 game yet. A little short for those who don't have a Xbox Live Gold account perhaps, for those who do GRAW 2 is unmissable.

While it would be easy for some of the more jaded gamers out there to dub Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 “GRAW 1.5,” there’s no denying that this title improves on an already great game in a number of ways. The single-player campaign features a bunch of new gameplay mechanics, improved A.I., and some spiffed-up visuals, and while the multiplayer is largely the same, it’s still an absolute blast to play. Our only hope is that Ubisoft doesn’t decide to make this a yearly tradition. Sure, it’s definitely a great game, but we’d love to see a little more innovation the next time out. Still, if you’re a fan of Ghost squad, this is one adventure you won’t want to miss.

It would be a mistake to dismiss Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 as a mere expansion pack rather than a full-fledged sequel, a tremendous one at that. Yes, there are pathfinding issues with respect to friendly AI, some of the missions will seem a little overwhelming with all the units you have to control, and multiplayer still doesn’t feature a cover system, but all that aside what you’ve got here is a singleplayer campaign that’s just as thrilling and intense as the original, and a robust multiplayer component that is sure to keep gamers coming back to the virtual battlefield for months to come. What more could you ask for?

WoW!

Overall, GRAW 2 is a pleasant surprise but it not the true sequel people may have been expecting. It takes the original title and refines it to a tee though, and that is what makes this game so good. The graphics are superb, the sound is sharp, the campaign, although somewhat short, is quite engaging and the online play is fantastic. If you haven't played GRAW before then this will blow you away and for fans of the franchise, GRAW 2 is a must have although the paying full price hurts. Many of the issues from GRAW have been addressed and Ubisoft definitely has shown how to improve an already good game.

GRAW 2 is very much an enhanced re-tooling and re-polishing of GRAW 1, and that's fine by me. Not everything can be brand new each year. Some of the new features are better than others (the added viewpoints and controls are great, while the Mule is forgettable), while lots of little things were streamlined and made easier (like weapon switching and shooting from a copter). The core game plays like a smoother, better-paced, and more vehicle-heavy GRAW 1, which is a good if familiar thing. The single-player campaign, unfortunately, seems a little short and even a little too easy, which is a bummer. But the co-op mode and the MP modes are deep, highly customizable, and great fun so for some players, that might make up for the single-player campaign's brevity.

If you own an Xbox 360, then here's another essential title for it. There appear to be endless options, and it's a great entry-level game for anyone unfamiliar with Tom Clancy's series of games. Of course, the visuals are some of the best on the console, and the sound effects are especially immersive. This isn't mentioning the soundtrack itself, which is notably effective and enjoyable. Everything in this package fits together so well that you'll probably still be playing it years down the road, or at least until another iteration of the series arrives. If you don't already own G.R.A.W. then you might want to ask a friend who played the first one how it was, and they'll tell you to forget it and sit down to play G.R.A.W. 2. At that point you'll realize what I opened with is the truth, they already know the score.

Overall this game is much more than just a small upgrade, which is what many people expected with such a quick release date. The single player campaign is small but still a nice feature considering the best part of the game comes in the form of online play. Some nice graphical and gameplay mechanic upgrades round off a stellar title that is a must own for fans of the series and should seriously be considered by all gamers in general. There are some small complaints that nitpickers will quickly notice but they should in no way take away from what is one of the best shooter gaming experiences available on any console. It’s hard to judge Graw 2 based on whether it should be classed as a true sequel or an expansion disk considering Graw was highly praised across the board and as they say “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. However I genuinely believe that once you dig beneath the apparent familiarity of the experience you do find enough new game play features that not only rival it’s predecessor but surpass it as well. For the shooter fans and tacticians among us Graw 2 is a must have game and one which won’t disappoint regardless of the price tag. For newcomers this is as good a place as any to get into these types of games although at first things might seem a little daunting. Graw 2 is available now and worthy of sitting proud in your games collection.

Summing up; GRAW 2 is a good game in many, many ways and probably would have been well received even if it was developed as a pure multiplayer. The campaign is far too short and smacks of filling time and a list of achievements, but that said the multiplayer portion at least lifts the game to where it deserves to be and as such is a worthy purchase.

All this being said, the game is still an acquired taste. It is the best of its kind but it still takes a certain mindset to fully enjoy (read: patient people). If Rainbow Six Vegas raised the tactical shooter bar originally set by GRAW last year then this sequel pushes it even higher. Despite the relatively short single-player game, it’s a much better all-round package, boasting a wonderfully epic campaign that’s supported by a fully fleshed-out multiplayer experience. Although it doesn’t push the series forward in great leaps and bounds, the refinements that have been made – the improved Cross Com, meatier multiplayer and more diverse campaign objectives – really do shine and only the stunted single-player game stops it from scoring higher.

As a single-player game, alone, GRAW 2’s four-to-five hour campaign is short even by new-gen standards. However, when you toss in multiplayer and keep in mind that the original GRAW is still one of the most popular Xbox Live games, the game becomes a much better investment. Nonetheless, value proposition questions aside, it’s hard to ignore that this is one the best-looking and most fun games on the Xbox 360.

But to go back to what I said earlier, it's really all about the experience, reading all the facts and features lists in the world isn't going to accurately convey the feeling of playing GRAW 2, the feeling of being sucked into a game world so beautifully formed and well designed that the individual features blur into the impressive whole. It may be a bit short, a bit similar to last years version and if you don't have access to Xbox Live then you'll be missing out on half the package, but as game experiences go this is up there with the best and as such comes very heartily recommended.

I love the fact that the physics engine in the game applies not just to the player, but to the entire game environment. I felt like sitting back with a bucket of popcorn to enjoy the big, big, beautiful explosions in all their earth shaking, shrapnel flinging glory. The new in-game character viewpoints are diverse and highly functional and the increased vehicle and human AI support contributes to the realism and all out war experience. Yes, the campaign mode is faulted for its brevity but co-op and MP modes make up for it with their challenging and deeply customizable styles. This is a very strong, visually impressive game. Some will be tempted to dismiss Advanced Warfighter 2 as an extended mission pack for the first game rather than a proper sequel. But from a solo perspective, there's no contest: GRAW2 delivers a much tighter and more polished experience. Online, it's a little less clear-cut, but the new set of maps, weapons, and tweaks will make it an attractive proposition for those hooked on the original's high-caliber offerings. The only things revolutionary about Ghost Recon are the Mexican insurgents you fight, but when the game's this compelling, who cares?

Tom Clancy's: Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 felt more like an update to the previous game, not a sequel - just a new package with a new campaign and more multiplayer maps and weapons. The graphical tweaks to the campaign side of things made the game look spectacular and sleak, while the multiplayer has had the weights pulled off its back and now runs quicker and smoother. It's still a brilliant game if you don't own the previous one. GRAW 2 is the definition of a year-to-year sequel. All of the things great about the original are here and all of the issues have been addressed in some form or fashion. For only having one year in between the two titles it is amazing what has been accomplished and personally I prefer a nice re-tooling as opposed to trying to fix what isn’t broken. The bottom line is simple, if you enjoyed the original game then you should find plenty here to justify your purchase. Who knows what Ubisoft has in store for the future, but the GRAW series is almost guaranteed to be remembered as one of the best the 360 had to offer. With the U.S. President secure and the nuke in safe hands as the first episode of GRAW wraps up, you would think Lt. Scott Mitchell and his band of elite infantry would get some well-deserved R&R. But instead of going back to the drawing board after their failed coup, the Mexican revolutionaries are moving straight into their second phase of attack, amassing forces directly across the U.S. border in Juarez. With the Army still playing coy and denying any direct involvement to the build-up, your team of Ghosts must once more take on the role of international janitors to clean up the mess.

I disagree about the controls system, I like it. I compare it to Gears of War.Gears had more intuitive controls but the cover system in GRAW is still better, and it was out long before.

Very little in GRAW2 is designed to convert those who steadfastly refused to get on with the first, something which Ubisoft makes no apologies for. Instead they have provided for the already-converted with a game that will thrill and engage for its duration. Taken in isolation it could be argued that the single and multiplayer modes are not much of a justification for purchasing the game which, whatever way you look at it, is ultimately an expansion pack for the first. However, consider the two aspects together as they are packaged and you have one hell of an experience that is worthy of purchase and play.

It has only been a year since the original GRAW came out to acclaim across multiple platforms, which doesn't allow tons of time to make major changes in the game. The game has definitely been optimized for performance and the new settings allow for some nice tactical play. However, the single player campaign is noticeably shorter than before - fortunately the enhancements to multiplayer make up for that loss. However you play, there is something fun awaiting you in the new addition to theGhost Recon franchise.

It was always unlikely that GRAW2 would carry the same impact as its predecessor last year, mainly due to the fact that its graphics and approach do look exceedingly similar. Beneath the surface, though, it has done more than enough to prove itself. Anyone with a sharp enough eye will notice how attractive it is and how well it plays out: at a push, it may even be the better game. It's plain to see that GRAW2 will appeal to the same type of gamer as it always has, nevertheless, those who fit into this category are free to start the celebrations. Ghost Recon continues to be a triumph, and for that reason alone we should all be exceedingly pleased.

All in all, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2’s main flaw is simply not changing enough since the last game. While there is always the case for “if it’s not broken, do not fix it”, nevertheless it is still hard to justify the full price for those with the original game. For those new to the series, this is absolutely a must own game, but unless you really got into GRAW 1, GRAW 2 is more of the same and is best rented, which is the reason for the significantly lower score than last time around.

In short, GRAW2 equals great graphics plus great sound plus highly immersive gameplay, and that means you have a high quality game that is highly recommended. Overall 4/5 - it would certainly have been higher if it weren't for the short single-player mission.

Lovers of complex military shooters will slurp this one down. Connoisseurs of gaming, however, may leave a little disappointed and be left with cravings for an extra course. But whichever camp you occupy, it can't be denied that GRAW 2 is a polished and visceral game, just be prepared to take at least 10% off our score if you don't plan to take it online.

As is standard now, there are several Xbox Live modes to keep your interest too. These include a great two to four player co-op mode, and space for up to 16 players on XBL with plenty of maps. But it's the same story as all the other Ghost Recons online, you need to be a ninja at the game to stand a chance of actually having some fun. That or you could just round up your mates who aren't as hardcore as most of GRAW's following.

Anyone who remembers Island Thunder and Summit Strike will remember that they, too, were better than their parent games, and put out at a sensible price. If Ubisoft was brave enough to admit that GRAW 2 is the same kind of offering, we'd insist that it was a must-have game for any strategic shooter fan; especially for those of you who spend a lot of time online. As a full-priced offering, though, the goal posts have moved, and it's hard not to feel a little short changed by the short-lived single player campaign and how similar the whole thing feels. In many ways, GRAW 2 is the classic quick-fire sequel - short on new ideas, but big on polishing what we know and love. But these days, isn't that what people want?

Still, that's how a game works, and in general we really enjoyed this one. It was fun to play - and fun for others to watch, which is a good indication of how well paced, voiced and "drawn" a game is. It was like watching an interesting war movie, and you got swept up in the events as they rolled out.

You can never have enough explosions in a game imo, and there’s a plenty of them in GRAW2. The graphics and particularly the dynamic lighting has been improved from the original, and it looks great especially at night. I did find the control system a little clumsy though.

Criticisms aside, GRAW2 does manage to improve over the original, with a more stylish grasp on creating atmosphere and ensuring the action and intensity seldom drops. There's few next-gen titles out there that portray the ferocity that GRAW2 effortlessly achieves; whilst it's a short-game, it's one you'll be racing through without taking a break.

Still, even if you don't care one whit about online gaming, Red Storm's latest is exciting enough to offset the nagging sense that you've trod this ground before. It might not represent the pinnacle of the genre, but it is well worth playing. On the other hand, if live and breathe online gaming, GRAW 2 is undoubtedly a must-buy.

Still it’s not quite enough to bless GRAW2 with more than average-plus marks. In fact the question you’ll want to ask as you make your own pre-buy pros and cons list, is whether this sounds like a full-bodied sequel
or just a $60 up-tweaked mission pack.

Of course there is not a game out there without flaws. The obvious one that most have been hearing across the board is how short the campaign is. You can easily breeze through in a couple of hours. There are several graphical glitches in the multiplayer mode along with some features that you are not allowed to use in the multiplayer mode. A huge one is the cover mode, which in the single player mode is not all that great either. The cover system compared to that of Rainbow Six: Vegas is crap. You have to literally find the sweet spot before you can take cover, and by the time you do it's too late, and the enemy is unloading on you. A few minor flaws here and there still do not keep this game from being an outstanding 360 title.

GRAW 2 is as much a by the numbers sequel as you can possibly get. The graphics have been given a polish, the single player is more action packed and the game has a few new features for you to enjoy. But this still does not detract from a number of glaring faults. The inability to take cover in multi-player is an odd omission and the AI in the single player is dreadful. Some may moan that this game is designed as a multi-player game with the campaign being an afterthought and they may be true; but when paying ÂŁ50 for a new title we expect the whole package to be of equal quality. The bottom line is, if you enjoyed the original then there's little chance of you disliking this, but maybe next time we could get more of a sequel than an enhancement.

Game Critics (6.5 out of 10)

I came away from GRAW2 with mixed feelings. When I’m playing a shooter, I don’t want to be simultaneously micromanaging five other things on top of controlling my own character. Instead of forcing players to guide the actions of so many different people and vehicles, the designers would have done better to remove some excess layers of player-controlled support features while making the mission objectives and shooting more intrinsically compelling. Without a doubt, GRAW2 has its share of great spectacle, such as when I was caught in a firefight in a dense urban area and made it out by calling in an airstrike. But despite its graphical flair and fancy high-tech features, the hollowness and simplicity of the core gameplay ultimately left the experience feeling unbalanced and unrewarding.

[Online review] The co-op and clan options make for a nice package but what we would really like, above all else, is for every player in the lobby to make it to the match without tripping over a 'You have lost connection' message. This is 2007; surely such simple affairs can't be that hard?

Since the single-player campaign is short but decent, you might do yourself a favor and call in a tactical squad to secure a copy from Blockbuster. But if you want to meet that same tactical squad online, we recommend skipping the trip to the rental store, and heading straight to Vegas.
