Back to the Future: The Game - Episode 1: It's About Time
Description
It's About Time! is the first out of five episodes of Back to the Future: The Game.
The year is 1986, and Doc has been missing for a long time by now. Because of all the debts he was having, the city decided to build a parking garage at the place of his house, selling all stuff from it along the way. Marty McFly is trying to save things precious to him, but suddenly the time-traveling car DeLorean appears out of nowhere with the Doc's cry for help! It appears that Doc is stranded in the year 1931, where he was arrested for setting a speakeasy on fire. Marty must travel to the past and rescue his friend before he gets lynched by furious mob.
The adventure game features third-person view with real-time 3D graphics and pre-defined fixed, pivoting or scrolling camera settings. While interaction is performed in classic point-and-click style, the player has to move Marty by direction keys or dragging the character with the mouse. Puzzles are predominantly inventory-based; certain tasks can also be solved by gathering information and selecting the correct dialogue choices.

A fun game for fans of the Back to the Future movies
The Good
It's year 1986 and Doc Brown has been missing several months. Marty arrives to the Doc's house and finds out local bank started to sell Doc's property for his debts and Marty's father is leading the sale. After a while Marty learns that Doc might in trouble somewhere in time.
Well-acted cinematic story kept my interest for its whole short length and difficulty is just fine for casual adventurers like me. Some seasoned players might feel the game is too easy for them.
I liked the voice-acting and music very much. They added to game experience more movie feeling as some actors and music were same as in movie trilogy.
The Bad
The biggest problem with the game is the controlling scheme. Sometimes when camera angle changes your walking controls reverses and that may cause additional turns. Fortunately speed and precise controlling are not important aspects in this kind of game.
The Bottom Line
The first episode of Telltale's new Back to the Future series brings back memories over twenty years ago. From the opening scene to the final seconds of game I kept thinking how well the game had captured movie trilogy's atmosphere. It's About Time! felt like a genuine feel-good game.
With Back to the Future Telltale Games has another quality modern adventure game in its roster.
