Bejeweled: Stars

Bejeweled: Stars continues the classic Bejeweled gem-matching concept, simplified into a single game mode. The game consists of a large amount of levels unlocked gradually along a winding path. Based on the total performance up to three stars can be earned per level that are added to constellations. When a constellation is complete, charms are unlocked as customization items for the player's profile. There are also small story elements every now and then with different characters such as Felis the cat.

The gameplay uses the classic formula of switching gems on a board to create a line of three identical ones in a row, horizontally or vertically. These gems disappear and new ones fill the board from above. Matches of four, a square of four and a T-shape provide flaming gems that can cause explosions when included in matches. Two flaming gems, as well as other types of special gems, can also be combined for large explosions. Five of a kind in a row leads to a gem that removes all of the type it is matched with. When two of those are combined, all of the chosen type turn into flaming gems.

Levels generally have a limited amount of moves provided to complete goals. Next to regular matching additional goals are introduced gradually. There are coloured butterflies that rise with each turn and need to be included in matches before they reach the top of the screen. Sometimes cells have layers that need to be broken by including them in matches, either using regular matches or with explosions from flaming gems. Certain levels also have a stream that moves around gems with each turn.

Special gems called sky gems can be collected during levels. These are used to craft power-ups that can be used during gameplay, for instance to re-arrange the gems (Scrambler) or to turn a regular gem into a flaming one. Keys can be crafted to open chests for additional charms every now and then and a complete set of charms provides a reward. More rewards are given out for feeding Henrietta the Surprise Chicken daily. The game is free-to-play with in-app purchases for coins that can be used to speed up the crafting process. There is a stamina system with lives, but the player is only punished for losing levels.
