Description

Chess is a player vs computer, mouse controlled, implementation of the classic board game with the option of playing against another player over the internet.

The game is played on a standard board with standard moves and the game records the moves so that they can be printed if required. There are many chess variations available in this implementation of the game:* 'Normal' Chess

  • Extinction Chess: In this variant a player wins by making type of piece extinct; e.g., winning by capturing both of their opponent's Knights or their queen as this is a one of a kind piece
  • Kinglet Chess: In this game a player wins by capturing all of their opponents pawns
  • Take-All Chess: Here a player wins when all their opponent's pieces have been captured
  • Progressive Take-All: A faster version of Take-All Chess. White starts by taking one move, black then takes two moves, white then has three ...
  • Losing Chess: A player wins by losing all their pieces or by being stalemated
  • Double-Move Chess (Capture): The same game as normal chess but each player makes two moves in their turn, the king is non-royal and can be captured
  • Double-Move Chess (Checkmate): The same game as normal chess but each player makes two moves in their turn, a king that is in check does not have to escape until their second move
  • Monster Chess (4 Pawns): White starts with just a king and four pawns but gets two moves for every move of Black's, the object is to capture the opponent's King.
  • Monster Chess: (8 pawns): This is a medieval chess variant where, as above, White starts with just a king and eight pawns but has two moves for every move of Black's and the object is to capture the opponent's King.
  • Cylindrical Chess: Chess played on a 'cylindrical' board, i.e. the left and right edges wrap around.
  • Knightmare Chess: Here the knights are interchanged with kings, i.e. Each side has one knight and two kings, and the object is to checkmate the knight.
  • Non-Prise Chess: This game is played like normal chess with the added rule that Knights, Rooks, Bishops, and Queens cannot capture Knights Bishops, Rooks, or Queens.
  • Pocket Knight Chess: Another 'normal' chess game but here each player has a spare knight that they can place on any vacant square in lieu of making a move.
  • King vs. King: Here the white king must reach either the f8 or h8 square and the black king must attempt to stop them.
  • Pawn-odds Chess, Knight-odds Chess, and Rook-odds Chess: In these games white starts the game with one less piece than black
  • King and Pawns Chess: A variant where each side has just a king and a full complement of pawns
  • 3 Pawn Chess: A variant where each side has just a king three pawns
  • Trapese: A variant where black has a standard set of pieces while white has eight extra pawns but no queen, the extra pawns are on ranks three and four making a trapezium shape.
  • Shuffle #1 and Shuffle #2: Standard games but the arrangement of the back row is differs from the normal arrangement

The games are mouse controlled, have optional music and sound effects plus an internet play option. The AI opponent's strength can be altered, there is a save game feature and the game keeps track of the moves played and has the option to print these.
