Si vous êtes fans des jeux de rôles PC à l'ancienne, tels que Dungeon Master ou Elder Scrolls, vous serez séduits par Might Magic VII et passerez de très bons moments le long de dizaines d'heures de jeu. Malgré ses graphismes un peu datés, M&M7 est un fleuron du jeu de rôles sur PC. Sa difficulté et la patience qu'il demande pourraient vous rebuter au départ mais c'est en persistant qu'il vous délivrera la richesse de son contenu et de son ambiance.
In spite of the lack of groundbreaking improvements, FOR BLOOD AND HONOR is definitely a high point for the MIGHT AND MAGIC series. Although the game is still very combat-intensive (even for a role-playing game), there aren’t as many creatures to contend with as there were in MIGHT AND MAGIC VI. Battle-adverse gamers can take advantage of the new spells and skills that allow garners to minimize fighting and enjoy other activities. The game has been well designed with varied environments and lots of little rewards for diligent explorers. The development team has even thrown in an enjoyable, although not particularly challenging, Magic the Gathering-type card game. Although the game’s dated graphics and rigid interface may limit its appeal beyond fans of the genre, the fact that virtually every aspect of MIGHT AND MAGIC VI has been improved upon should more than satisfy fans. All told, MIGHT AND MAGIC VII is a strong installment in a great RPG series.

Overall, Might and Magic 7: For Blood and Honor, surpasses its progenitor in almost every area. While the music and dungeons were a bit of a disappointment, the more linear plot, the ability to choose a certain path, and the increased number of character classes make M&M7 shine over its prequil. I just hope that the next installment of the series builds on the success of this game.

I can only say that I thoroughly enjoyed negotiating my way though this story, improving my characters and juggling their statistics ... and I loved the music. Still I must end this review by recording my alarm that The Temple of the Moon only had male clergy. No females! Just as I expect Dragons to live in caves and Dwarves to hang out in mines, I expect any Temple of the Moon to be presided over by females.

Ich habe Wochen, ja, Monate mit diesem Spiel zugebracht – was soll man über ein Game schon mehr und Besseres sagen? Was die Note angeht, so hat mir der jüngste Sproß der mächtig magischen Familie dennoch heftige Kopfschmerzen verursacht: Auf der Haben-Seite steht im Vergleich zum Vorgänger die verzwickte und mit Windungen und Wendungen deutlich ausgebaute Story. Nicht zu vergessen einige wichtige Verbesserungen in spielerischen Details. Auf der Minus-Seite verrröchelt hingegen die bestenfalls halbwegs erträgliche Grafik. Dazu kommt der Umstand, daß es diesmal natürlich keinen Bonus für das erste große Rollenspiel seit langem gibt. Aber was hilft alles Nörgeln? Die entscheidende Frage kann doch letzten Endes nur lauten: Macht es Laune? Und darauf kann ich bloß antworten: Jau, wie Weihnachten und Ostern an einem Tag!

Given that four years passed between the release of Might and Magic V: Darkside of Xeen and 1998's Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven, the latest chapter in the series has arrived hot on the heels of the last. This relative haste is both good and bad. It's bad because many of the previous game's faults remain, and the engine - merely adequate last year - looks downright dated now. It's good because a number of welcome improvements have been made, and a slightly improved Might and Magic is better than no Might and Magic at all.

Inhoudelijk gezien is M&M VII een uitgebreid spel dat fans en RPG'ers maar tevens nieuwkomers in het genre met heel veel plezier zullen spelen. Met name de verbeterde AI maar ook de vele monsters, karakters en lokaties maken dat het spel verder gaat dan het predikaat 'het zoveelste deel uit de serie'. Grafisch-technisch beschouwd had ik graag meer verbeteringen gezien en blijft For Blood & Honor wat achter. Maar uiteindelijk draait het toch om de gameplay en die verdient een pluim.

Might and Magic VII promete grandes surpresas pelas longínquas terras de Erathia. Sem esquecer de enormes e intrincados desafios e sangrentas batalhas.
After spending a great deal of time with M&M 7, I’ve come to one indisputable conclusion. If you liked M&M 6, then you will love M&M 7. If you didn’t, then you’ll want to avoid this one. Personally, I think it’s a title that very few CRPG fans should pass up. The absolute depth of play available here is almost staggering, and the systemic foundation on which it’s built is fundamentally sound. The only thing that keeps M&M 7 from achieving a higher overall score is that it feels very much like an extension of its immediate ancestor. There’s nothing wrong with more Might & Magic, and I think that it would have been somewhat disastrous for New World Computing to abandon any of the basic tenets that make up its role-playing structure. I simply would have liked to see more done. I guess we’ll have to wait for M&M 8 for that, but until that time, this stands as one of the best role-playing options available.
Insgesamt aber ist Might and Magic VII der bisher beste Teil der Serie. Die Verknüpfungen zum parallel laufenden Strategiespiel Heroes of Might and Magic III bereichern das Spiel sehr. Weil die positiven Teile von MM6 beibehalten und einige Schwachstellen verbessert wurden, dürften nicht nur Fans auf ihre Kosten kommen. Einsteigern werden sich auch recht einfach zurechtfinden können, da die Bedienung niemanden überfordert. Wer Rollenspiele mag, wird aber auf keinen Fall enttäuscht. Nur Grafikfreaks werden sicherlich wieder etwas auszusetzen haben.
But along with these few disadvantages, Might and Magic 7: For Blood and Honor shares all the good points of its predecessor, along with a few brand new cool features of its own. Certainly not many RPGs I've seen lately can compete with the sheer size of this baby, or the number of quests and things to do. New lands to explore, new monsters to slay, new character classes, new skills, new items- what more can an adventurer ask for? Sure, there may not be quite as many shiny new features as some sequels have, but who cares? Might and Magic 7 is fun. Besides, how often do you get the chance to hang out in your very own castle? Hey, everybody has to have a dream.
In the end, Might and Magic VII still has that little something—an element that often proves incredibly difficult to articulate—that compels the player to plow through to the end. It's a common thread that runs through all of the games produced by New World, a feeling you get that they're crafted by hardcore gamers for hardcore gamers, that they coddle players in a friendly and intuitive interface that delivers non-market researched gameplay. There's never been a real sense of continuity in the Might and Magic universe, as fantasy mixes somewhat uneasily with science-fiction, and a rather loopy sense of humor pervades the whole affair. It's as if they're not taking any of it particularly seriously, just creating an entertaining gameplay experience. With For Blood and Honor, they've succeeded once again.

An excellent game for old-timer CPRGers and worth a try for EverQuest players sick of all the camping, trains, and kill steals. The lack of anyone else to compete with makes you feel more powerful once you do get later in the game, but this power feels kind of empty, since you've got no one to show it off to. If you can get past the sound, graphics and happy atmosphere (assuming you don't like the last), then you'll probably be fine.

Wenn Might and Magic 7 als technische Neuauflage des sechsten Teils trotzdem empfehlenswert ist, dann wegen der inneren Werte der Serie. Und die haben mit der frischen Storyline, den neuen Örtlichkeiten und Personen sogar noch gewonnen. So richtig darüber freuen werden sich in erster Linie die alten Fans, zumal das anspruchsvolle Gameplay so manchen Neuabenteurer überfordern dürfte. Wer nicht mit beinharten Fights, uferlosen Aufträgen und ständiger Geldknappheit leben kann, wird in diesem Rollenspiel trotz automatischer Heldenreinkarnation im Todesfall keine Rolle spielen wollen.

Alles aan dit spel is uitstekend, behalve die belachelijk ouderwetse engine die ze zo koppig bij New World Computing blijven gebruiken. Maar... zelfs mét die slechte engine is het toch een RPG zoals we ze graag hebben. Bovendien is Might and Magic VII vast en zeker het beste spel uit de reeks, tot nu toe. Laten we hopen dat ze werk maken van een veel betere spel-engine voor de achtste editie.
Neben dieser Sammlerwut schlagen mich aber auch die variantenreichen Kämpfe in ihren Bann. Jeder kann seine eigene Taktik erfolgreich zur Anwendung bringen. Die geniale Methode des Charaktersteigerns und das magische System gehören für mich sowieso zum Besten, was das Genre zu bieten hat. Gerade in Anbetracht der vielen Quests gibt's zudem ein Sonderlob dafür, daß mir nicht jeder Dahergelaufene seine Lebensgeschichte aufhalst. Um eine Rüge kommt Might and Magic 7 jedoch nicht umhin, denn aus der 3D-Kartenuntersützung hätte man mehr machen müssen.

With all of this said, I really did enjoy playing Might and Magic VII. It's a really long game with a great story, and for the most part, it plays pretty well. Better still, the forked storyline gives you a chance to go back and play the game again when your done. While there's no doubt that the game could have used a new and improved engine, this one does the job satisfactorily, and at least there's a lot more to look forward to when the next title ships. If you like old-school, play in your bathrobe for an entire weekend RPGs, then For Blood and Honor will keep you more than happy for weeks (and maybe even months). If, on the other hand, you're new to the RPG arena and are looking for a title with plenty of bells and whistles to keep you entertained, you may want to think twice before picking this one up.

Might and Magic VII will take an extremely long time to complete even if you use the strategy guide like I did. The manual tells you how to install the game, how to build a party and which buttons do what but otherwise you are on your own. The strategy guide actually made the game more enjoyable. But anyway, as I was saying… is it worth it? Yes. As a whole, Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor is an enjoyable and exciting game. As you traverse - lose track of - then once more traverse the epic story, new twists and adventures will beckon you to come back for more. While there were moments of tedium they were quickly forgotten in my enthusiastic endeavor to complete the next quest. So if you want a big time role-playing experience to keep you busy for a long, long time, please allow me to invite you into the world of Might and Magic VII. See you there!

Wypowiedziałem kilka krytycznych uwag pod adresem siódmej części cyklu Might & Magic: For Blood and Honor. Nie znaczy to jednak, że jest ona zła. Wprost przeciwnie uważam, że jest bardzo dobra. Po prostu szkoda mi, że jej twórcy poszli po jak najmniejszej linii oporu i tak niewiele zmienili w stosunku do części szóstej i bardziej jej nie rozbudowali. Niby nie powinno zmieniać się tego co jest prawie doskonałe, ale poprawienie istniejących niedociągnięć mogło spowodować, że M&M VII byłaby jeszcze lepsza od swojej poprzedniczki. Niestety część VI pozostaje niedoścignionym wzorem a wszystkie wprowadzone zmiany nie potrafiły jej zdetronizować.

Might & Magic 7 ist erheblich spannender als Teil 6, aber wesentliche Schwächen wurden nicht ausgebügelt. Selbst wenn ich von der üblen Grafik absehe, sind die Quests immer noch seelenlos und wenig überraschend. Das Kartenspiel Acromage hat mir dagegen so viel Spaß gemacht, daß New World Computing ein eigenständiges Produkt daraus machen sollte. Fans des Vorgängers werden Might & Magic 7 lieben, alle anderen sind bei Baldur’s Gate & Co. besser aufgehoben.

Kompromißlos bleibt Might and Magic, was es immer war: ein Rollenspiel ohne Schnörkel, das man lieben oder hassen kann. Die begehbare Welt ist riesig, Kampf- wie Auftragsmasse überwältigend, die meisten Dialoge sind ob ihrer Größe leckere Buchstabensuppe, und die spielerische Umsetzung wirkt gewohnt souverän. Wer es althergebracht mag, wird damit fraglos zufriedengestellt. Mich persönlich stört nur, daß sich seit Jahren keine frische Idee zu den alten gesellt hat - For Blood and Honor wirkt fast wie eine Zusatzdisk zu Teil 6. Rätsel sind nur sporadisch vorhanden, Grafik sowie Sound wirken blaß, und die Steuerung ließe sich um einiges praktischer gestalten. Wirklich neue Freunde wird die Serie so nicht gewinnen, doch Fans der alten Garde bekommen für ihr Geld die bewährt reichhaltige Rollenspiel-Kost, die sie erwarten.

Might & Magic VII är ett alldeles utmärkt rollspel. Mycket fängslande med många bra historier och uppdrag som hela tiden driver en vidare i spelet. Tyvärr märks det att serien har hållit på ett tag. Grafiken är gammalmodig och du som tidigare har spelat Might & Magic kommer knappast att bli överraskad av den nya delen i serien.

But overall, Might and Magic 7 just doesn't make enough advancements over Might and Magic 6. It's basically the same game with a slight makeover and tweaking. If you loved part 6 and want some more of the same, then 7 will do nicely. But for those of you looking for a new experience should look elsewhere, as there's just not enough pizzazz to keep you interested for long.
M&M will give you at least 30 hours of playing time, probably more. The puzzles are good and the quests are exciting. The deciding factor for whether or not to spend your money on this is whether or not you can accept dated graphics. If you can accept the graphics, you will have an enjoyable game on your hands. If you cannot accept it, I highly recommend you don't buy this game. Go get Baldur's Gate instead.

If only they could have given this thing good visuals and fixed the voices, they might have broken this out of the "hardcore" rpg group and gotten a bit more mass appeal. I love this kind of game, but many won't. Don't let the pretty box fool you, this game looks pretty pitiful visually when compared to other new rpgs. The meat and potatoes is in the world they've created and the gaming system they are using. Good stuff. Not too complex for a regular rpg player. They definitely need to hire someone else to write the manuals. In summary, you probably won't want to buy this game unless you are already a pretty big rpg fan. If you are really into rpg's, you'll see this as one of the better ones.

Riktigt inbitna Might And Magic-fans kommer säker att gilla spelet trots detta, men bara för att de blivit så vana vid spelens svagheter. Kings Quest VIII: Mask of Eternity lyckades höja kvaliteten på sin serie med gedigna grafiska och spelmässiga förbättringar, men Might And Magic verkar befinna sig i en nedgående spiral. Jag är så besviken, att jag inte ens orkar lägga in ett standardskämt om skägg på slutet.

Septième épisode de la célèbre série des Might and Magic, For Blood and Honor ne rend hommage au genre que par une bonne histoire et une certaine profondeur... Mais le jeu en lui-même est daté et dispensable.
