Game Groups > Games using LLM (Large Language Model) AIs

Games making use of Large Language Models (LLMs), a type of artificial intelligences trained to write or complete text in a natural, humanlike fashion. Large Language Models emerged towards the end of 2010s, and started seeing wider use in games in the early 2020s. Notable LLMs include the GPT series, created by OpenAI.

This group includes games which make use of such models during gameplay to generate new content on the fly, typically in response to player actions. This can include: generating new in-game text (such as responses from game characters to the player's words), generating quests and scenarios, generating the statistics of items or creatures, and more.

Due to the very large amounts of memory and computation necessary for such models to operate, currently most of these games do not run an AI on the player's computer, instead using API calls to remotely access AIs hosted by companies.

Exceptions: This category does not include games which were developed with the assistance of AI technologies, but their content is not generated during the actual gameplay.
