John is a first generation Dominican-American who graduated from Full Sail University in 2006 with a B.S. in Game Design & Development. In 2007 he broke into the gaming industry where he's worked as a Game Designer for studios all around North America including Midway Games Austin, Rockstar San Diego, WB Games Montreal as an AI Systems Designer, at Amazon as a Tutorials Technical Designer for their Lumberyard engine (rebranded in 2021 as the Open 3D Engine), and now at Electronic Arts on their Frostbite engine working out of Seattle.

As a Technical Game Designer on EA’s Frostbite engine, John is driven to design tools and workflows to empower developers to build the most engaging games imaginable.

He seeks to share his knowledge and help other developers break-in while promoting inclusivity, diversity, and sustainable development practices as a speaker at the Game Developer's Conference, The Game Devs of Color Expo, and the Latinx in Gaming Festival, in addition to his game dev podcast Out of Play Area.
