William Rhys Dekle is Director of First Party Business Development at Microsoft Game Studios where he has been since 2005. He headed up the business development effort for the launch of Kinect (Natal) and primarily focuses on large retail console titles. He may be credited under the names 'Rhys Dekle', 'William Rhys Dekle', and 'William Dekle'.
He was Director of Merchandising Management (DMM) for Hollywood Entertainment (Hollywood Video/GameCrazy) and was responsible for growing Hollywood's $120 million rental game business across Hollywood's 2000 stores. In this capacity, he led an organization that was one of the top ten purchasers of video games in the United States . Among his accomplishments was a successful turnaround of a failing used-game business and driving the widespread adoption of revenue-sharing agreements with major video game publishers greatly changing the economics of the rental video game industry at that time.
He was an engagement manager at management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company serving high technology and media clients. He also worked at Goldman Sachs.
William Rhys Dekle was born in Japan and grew up in Georgia. He holds an MBA in Finance from Wharton and a B.A. in Anthropology from Yale University. He is a graduate of Phillips Academy, Andover.
