Scott Joplin

Scott Joplin was an African-American composer and pianist, known as the King of Ragtime due to the popularity of his ragtime compositions. His best known works are the Maple Leaf Rag and The Entertainer.
Joplin was born in Texarkana, Texas in 1868 and died of syphilitic dementia in New York City in 1917. He was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1976.
Joplin's music was featured in many early computer games, following a revival of interest in his work after it was used extensively in the soundtrack to the 1973 movie The Sting.
