Occupation: MobyGames Approver and resident wacko.
Preferred Gaming Genre: RPGs (Role-Playing Girls *cough*) - usually Turn-based, Strategy Games, some simulation and adventure games.
Recently discovered that I prefer strategy games than RPGs. Probably because I never really got into these "real-time RPGs" that have no tactical intelligence whatsoever. Also a sucker for 4x games and merchant-oriented space simulators.
Un-preferred Games Genre: Sports (excluding Managerial games), Racing, Platform (arcade), Action, FPS, Hack-and-Slash RPGs.
Preferred Game Platform: PC: PC Booter, DOS, Windows 3x., Windows. And religiously believes that whomever created DosBox and distributed it as freeware should get a one-way ticket to heaven.
MobyGames Approver: Primarily Focus: PC Platform.
Secondary Focus: Non-PC, mostly console.
Primarily Items: Credits, Reviews, Game Description Revisions, Developer Bios, Company Overviews & everything else.
Usually does not touch: New games, screenshots, cover art & everything else. :)
Review Philosophy:
I specialize in trashing and bashing games. Well, not really. If I deem its good, I'll say its good. If its bad, I crucify it. If the game is buggy beyond reason, thus deemed an "unfinished product released to the market", you developers better find yourself a new line of work.
Seriously.
Please understand this. Anyone can say a game is good. Just go to all those "professional review sites" and hear all that hyping bullshit they get payed to do by game publishers. If you're planning to buy a game, then you'd better hell know what kind of product you're getting before you purchase it.
If it turns out the product is bad, then at least you'll expect it from the review. If the product is good, hey, you liked the game, who freakin' cares about the review? But as long as publishers/developers over-hype marketing strategies to the point of moronic proportions, you'll have bad-ass paranoid psychotic reviewers like me at the front-lines. Come on, we know its an industry...but who the hell likes being ripped off?
Either way, the consumer wins when you read a review that trashes a game (as long as it has valid argumentation...not just mere name-calling). Can't fight logic.
