Panasonic Interactive Media Company (PIM) was established in April 1996 when "the former" Panasonic Software Company was merged into it. Based in Santa Clara, California (USA), Panasonic Interactive Media was a division of Matsushita Electric Corporation of America. A new logo was created sporting the words "Interactive Media" in addition to the word "Panasonic". The company published and distributed educational and entertainment software plus DVD home video products and digital photography imaging products.
In May 1996, Panasonic Interactive Media announced the release of a dozen cross-platform games for the 3DO, PC and Macintosh. This was the final year for the 3DO system, and future games were published only for Windows and Macintosh.
In November 1997, the company acquired exclusive North American distribution rights to all of 7th Level's Monty Python games. The company's release of Monty Python's Looney Bin may have been the last entertainment title using the PIM name.
