Overview edit · view history
Founded in 1986 by Wolf Percival, Polylang Ltd. (aka Polylang Multimedia Ltd. and Polylang Limited) was a translation and interpreter company. The company specialized in website and multimedia localization, including AV recording/post-production and graphics services. Polylang's main headquarters were located in Sheffield, England, and it also had offices in Germany and France.
Polylang offered localizations in all major languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese. In 1997 their Sheffield UK location occupied 15,000 square feet of office and studio space and employed over 80 full-time linguists, technical support staff and administrative personnel in-house. They also contracted over 200 freelance language experts, and collaborated with many other outside agencies and studios.
In February 1998, Polylang Ltd. was acquired by rivalling company SDL International and was renamed SDL-Sheffield.
Not to be confused with Polylang Translation Services, Inc. of Bellevue, Washington, USA which handles translations in the Health and Hospital industry.
