Description official descriptions
In this game you play the role of an American fighter pilot who is captured by the Germans during the second World War. The game is based on the film of the same name which was also based on true events. Your character is a computer generated version of Steve McQueen as are all the other actors for their characters.
The game play involves sneaking about the prison camp and interacting with other prisoners to obtain various items to aid you in your escape. The physics are identical to Conflict: Desert Storm. The game play shifts to all-out combat as well as the infamous motorbike chase.

In The Great Escape, you play four different men that are captured by the German soldiers in WW2. Your mission is to escape from the camps, and trying to avoid being arrested or shot, overall this game has a very nice story.
Moving on to the graphics, The Great Escape is not the greatest looking game on the PS2. It looks as if it's a PSX game. The sound of the vehicles and weapons is ok, but the voice acting gets to repetitive at times.
Also, something that I didn't like about this game was the gameplay. There is a lot of sneaking and avoiding guards in this game, the stealth sections of this game are very hard to play. Besides stealth, there is also driving and shooting, which I think was very hard and difficult to control. The vehicles in this game are difficult to handle, and it seems that this wasn't the right game of it.
The Bottom Line
If you are a big fan of stealth games, than you can have a look at this game. It's an average game, that has mediocre graphics, and mediocre gameplay.
