Description

Pac-Man: Puzzle Tour is a match-three puzzle game set in the Pac-Man universe. The game is played on single-screen boards mostly filled with ghosts. Next to the classic Blinky, Clyde, Inky and Pinky, new ones such as Crystal and Mechanical Ghost are introduced. The player needs to swap ghosts to create a uninterrupted horizontal or vertical line of three ghosts or more of the same colour. They match, disappear and new ones takes their place. A match of four creates an explosive ghost that can be matched to remove ghosts in a radius. A match of five creates a Galaxian that can be matched to remove all ghosts of that colour from the board. A match of five in the shape of an L or a T also creates an explosive item. Different power-ups can be combined for powerful combos.

The Tour mode takes Pac-Man through a level path with levels based on different objectives that need to be completed to progress. This is reaching a certain score with a limited amount of moves or time, removing barriers, creating matches next to Mechanical Ghosts to damage and eventually remove them, or dropping items to the bottom of the screen. Up to three stars can be earned based on the total score. Players can use items on the bottom of the screen, such as Pac-Man eating a specific ghost, shuffling the board or five additional moves.

In the online Score Attack mode a small amount of time is provided to get a high score, competing against other players worldwide. In this mode it is not required to wait until matches are complete, ghosts can be moved around even while others are still falling. Great scores lead to new ranks and rewards. In this mode partners can be unlocked and equipped, such as Pac-Man, Dig Dug and the space ship Fighter from Galaxian, all from other Namco franchises. These have separate experience and skill levels. Matches fill their meter and once full their icon can be tapped to activate their power, usually clearing a part of the board. There is also a fever gauge filled by matching special items. When full Fever time is activated for a larger score.

The game is free-to-play with an energy/stamina system represented as hearts. A heart is lost when a level is failed in the Tour mode, but also for every match played in the Score Attack mode. Hearts can be replenished by waiting or by asking friends. There are also Pac-Coins purchased with real money to restore lives and buy items. These are for instance support items such as higher scoring, more time, less ghosts variation, higher combo rewards and a longer Fever time. These support items can also be used in the Tour mode. Optionally they can be required by watching video advertisements.
