Joss Ellis worked at Thorn EMI in 1982, which later became Creative Sparks, for 2 years and had 2 games published Mediaeval Joust (VIC-20) and Wing Commander (C64).
He then worked in a partnership with Gary Yorke and wrote Brian Jack's Superstar Challenge for the C64.
He was a producer at Firebird Software from 1984 for all the non-BBC versions of Elite, The Sentinel, REVS, Thrust... and a ton of other things.
In 1987, he became the first European employee at Electronic Arts, and ended up as Director of European Development where he spearheaded all the the Bullfrog titles, kicked off the first FIFA football game, as well as Rugby, The Darkening, Space Hulk and many more. As a member of EA’s European board of directors, Ellis was directly involved in the planning and execution of EA Europe's growth strategies. Ellis also worked on porting key U.S. titles to European platforms and was integral in the production of EA’s first European line-up of products.
He worked at Virgin Interactive Entertainment from 1997 as Vice President of International Development.
Between 2001 and 2005, he was Chief Operating Officer and Development Director at Argonaut Games.
In September 2006, he became Head of Studios at Nival, Inc. based in Moscow, Russia. There, he oversees the Russian studios, helps the company’s developers and artists understand the worldwide games market more thoroughly and bridges communications between the U.S. and Russia.
On 28th July 2008 it was announced he had joined Tantalus as Director of Development.
