After four years of investigation after a filed complaint from Omega Electro BV in 1996 against Nintendo Netherlands B.V. and Nintendo UK Ltd., the Commission of the European Communities opens a case against Nintendo of Europe GmbH, Nintendo Co., Ltd. and their 12 European distributors, including Nintendo España, S.A., for blocking parallel trades and operating a resale price maintenance policy (and therefore violating the European Community treaty).
