A wonderful capture of the original games - but not without flaws.

The Good
The NES games are presented near-perfectly, and without any aggravating changes to the original graphics and sound. The Ocarina of Time game is also captured wonderfully, with great sound and graphics. All the original play from the N64 game is there, but with the ease of the new GameCube controller. Majora's Mask is also presented nicely, and it's great to play the game on the new platform and with easier controls, but its performance is the worst of the four games.

The disc also includes a 20-minute demo of the latest Zelda installment, The Wind Waker. The demo is well-done, but not overly exciting. Along with the demo is a special promotional video for Wind Waker, which is interesting. The retrospective video of all the past Zelda games is fun view of the legend and the game history.

The Bad
The Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask games are a little slow to load and shift, and may lag slightly on occasion, but overall OoT is completely operable. Majora's Mask, on the other hand, has more serious problems:

Information displayed on-screen while the game loads from the main menu does mention the sound irregularity. The background music skips or delays, and even cuts off for a brief second, though most of the time it's not too noticeable, unless you're listening for it. The most annoying problem, however, is the game's tendency to crash. This doesn't happen with any of the other games or features, it's strictly an issue with the transfer of Majora's Mask. It is especially irritating with this game's circumstances, because if you quit before a save, the game will restart at the beginning of the three-day time limit, and everything you did after you last set back time never happened; it will not pick up from the last owl-statue save.

The Bottom Line
The disc is a great item to have for all gamers or Zelda fans! It's awesome to be able to play these games on a new platform with improved lighting in graphics and easier controls. Despite the slight imperfections on OoT, and the occasional crash in MM, all the games are, on the whole, really fun to play and have. I recommend it to anyone who has loved the Zelda installments, or who is simply wondering what all the excitement over The Legend of Zelda is about.
